Rick Friedman is one of the nation's top civil trial attorneys representing individuals and small businesses injured by large corporate and government interests. He has established a reputation for obtaining large verdicts in cases other law firms have been unable or unwilling to take on in the fields of personal injury, defamation, insurance bad faith and business torts. In this interview, he discusses the important case of Merrick v. Paul Revere Life Insurance, where a jury ordered Paul Revere Life Insurance Co. to pay $24 Million and UnumProvident Corporation was ordered to pay $36 Million. Merrick's lawyers alleged that improper claims handling practices begun at Provident were brought to Paul Revere and influenced its claim handling with respect to Merrick’s claim both before the initial denial and afterward. These practices at the Unum Group of disability insurers have been the subject of media scrutiny including exposés on 60 Minutes and Dateline NBC as well as in multiple governmental investigations.

Among many of Rick’s other landmark cases are the $150 million awarded to a State Farm agent in Bellott v. State Farm, $84 million awarded to a disabled doctor in Ceimo v. Paul Revere, $17.3 million awarded for improper denial of disability benefits in McKendry v. General American, and $16.5 million awarded to a disabled worker in Ace v. Aetna Life Insurance Company.

Rick handles all types of cases, including personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, insurance bad faith and business torts. Rick is a member of the Inner Circle of Advocates, an invitation-only group that limits its membership to 100 of the leading trial lawyers in the country. He is also a member of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers.

A native of New York, Rick received his B.S. from Antioch College in 1976 and his J.D. from Harvard University in 1979. He is licensed to practice in Alaska, Washington and California, but also regularly appears pro hac vice in other state and federal courts around the country.

Michael Moran is a highly successful attorney who joined the law firm of Peter A. Law, P.C. in 2004. In this exclusive interview, Mike discusses the case of Bloomfield and Kirschenbaum v. Performance Food Group of Georgia, which resulted in a $54 million verdict concerning the death of Nola Rowe Bloomfield. Ms. Bloomfield was a passenger in a vehicle and was traveling south on Interstate 85 in Gwinnett County, Georgia, and encountered a disabled vehicle that had been struck by a tractor-trailer. The subsequent collision left Ms. Bloomfield fatally injured, and she died within 15-30 minutes of this accident.
Mike also represents other individuals and families in catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases.  He has tried cases to verdict in federal and state courts in Georgia and other states, as well as argued before both federal and state appellate courts. A graduate of John Marshall Law School, Mike was elected by the student body as Chief Justice of the Honor Court. He graduated Magna Cum Laude and also received the Eugene D. and Betty Howe Vezzani Award for Excellence in Constitutional Law and the Academic Dean's Award for Outstanding Scholastic Achievement.
