THE BOOK: “Reckless Disregard”

Former topnotch attorney Parker Stern, still crippled by courtroom stage fright, takes on a dicey case for an elusive video game designer known to the world only by the name of "Poniard." In Poniard's blockbuster online video game, Abduction!, a real-life movie mogul is charged with kidnapping and murdering a beautiful actress who disappeared in the 1980s. Predictably, the mogul--William "the Conqueror" Bishop--has responded with a libel lawsuit. Now it's up to Parker to defend the game designer in the suit.

In defending Poniard, Parker discovers that people aren't who they claim to be and that nothing is as it seems. At one point, his client resorts to blackmail, threatening to expose a dark secret about Parker. Then, many of the potential witnesses who could have helped the case die prematurely, and the survivors are too frightened to talk. Parker begins to feel as if he's merely a character in a video game, fighting malevolent Level Bosses who appear out of nowhere and threaten to destroy him

Tyler Cohen Wood is an expert in social media and Cyber issues. She is a Cyber Branch Chief for an Intelligence Agency within the Department of Defense (DoD) where she makes decisions and recommendations significantly changing, interpreting and developing important Cyber policies and programs affecting current and future DoD and Intelligence policies.

She is well known in the Intelligence, DoD, Law Enforcement and Computer Forensics communities for her work with digital forensics and Cyber Intelligence and has presented as a Cyber expert at conferences across the country. She co-authored the textbook Alternate Data Storage Forensics and was featured in Best Damn Cybercrime and Digital Forensics Book Period.

Prior to joining the Agency, she worked for the DoD Cyber Crime Center (DC3) as a senior digital forensic analyst, using her expertise to conduct intrusion, malware analysis, major crimes and exploitation of children forensic examinations to achieve many successful prosecutions and saving the commercial industry millions of dollars. Before joining DC3, she was employed at IBM and NASA as a senior forensic analyst where she also showcased her expertise in intrusions, and major crimes.

Her new book, Catching the Catfishers: Disarm the Online Pretenders, Predators, and Perpetrators Who Are Out Ruin Your Life (publication date April 2014) teaches how to safely and successfully navigate the online world, protect yourself, your children, your privacy and your communications, clean up and leverage your online image for social and career success, develop relationships online, and learn to vet if someone is who they claim to be online. The book also shows how to conduct reconnaissance on someone, read deception and lies in other people's online identities and posted content, such as social media, emails, resumes, reviews and dating profiles.
