Gerry Spence was born and educated in the small towns of Wyoming where he has practiced law for nearly fifty years. He has spent his lifetime representing the poor, the injured, the forgotten and the damned against what he calls "the new slave master," mammoth corporation and mammoth government. In this interview, Gerry provides his insight about his acquittal of attorney Geoffrey Fieger in a federal trial involving charges of conspiracy, obstruction of justice and illegal campaign contributions. Gerry also expresses his hopes for the incoming administration of President-elect Barack Obama.

Gerry has tried and won many nationally known cases, including the Karen Silkwood case, the defense of Randy Weaver at Ruby Ridge, the defense of Imelda Marcos, the case against Penthouse Magazine for Miss Wyoming and other important criminal and civil trials. He has never lost a criminal case. He has not lost a civil case since 1969. He has had more multi-million dollar verdicts without an intervening loss than any lawyer in America. Gerry is the founder of the Trial Lawyers College which has established a revolutionary method of training lawyers for the people. He believes that what he has learned needs to be shared with those who will continue to strive for justice on behalf of ordinary people. Gerry is the author of seventeen previous books, including the best-seller, How to Argue and Win Every Time, From Freedom to Slavery, O.J: The Last Word, The Making of a Country Lawyer, Murder and Madness, A Boy's Summer, With Justice for None, Give Me Liberty!, Gunning for Justice, Gerry Spence's Wyoming and Half-Moon and Empty Stars.

Marilyn G. Haft joined Duval & Stachenfeld as a partner in 2004 to establish and now co-chair the Entertainment and Media Practice Group of the Firm. In this interview, Marilyn offers her expert analysis about Senator Hillary Clinton’s potential nomination as Secretary of State in the administration of President-elect Barack Obama.

Marilyn specializes in the business and legal affairs of the multimedia and communication industries, including the film, television and publishing sectors. She represents film and television production and distribution companies as well as individuals in those businesses, with a specialty in structuring financing for those enterprises.  In addition, she maintains impressive credentials and diverse contacts in the entertainment and political fields. She has served as General Counsel and Managing Director of a financial services company that provided short-term funding requirements for major film studios, independent film producers/distributors, cable and record companies.  She was responsible for co- creating the financing structure of the transactions, and conducted due diligence on all contractual and cash flow related matters. Marilyn was also General Counsel to a publicly traded multimedia acquisitions company, where she was responsible for all aspects relating to acquisitions, including intellectual property issues involving patent, copyright, trademark and trade secrets. She is an award-winning independent film producer and has worked at NBC News and ABC News on content and production and as a producer on Peter Jennings’ specials. She was Executive Producer of an American Playhouse feature film, as well as an Emmy award-winning documentary on Preston Sturges for “American Masters” on National Public Television.  She acted as a co-producer of “Grace is Gone,” the John Cusack movie that won the Audience Award and Best Screenplay Award at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival.
