Allan Sloan is a senior editor at Fortune Magazine. Prior to that, he was the Wall Street Editor at Newsweek magazine. He is also weekly contributor to Public Radio International's Marketplace. Allan previously wrote a syndicated business column at Newsday that appeared in major-market newspapers including The Los Angeles Times, The Boston Globe, and The Dallas Morning News. Earlier in his career, he was a senior editor for Forbes magazine. Allan has appeared on such shows as Charlie Rose and the Colbert Robert. He is a five-time winner of the Gerald Loeb Award, business writing's highest honor. The prize was given for his story "House of Junk," which showed how subprime mortgages went bad. He also received the Distinguished Achievement Award from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers in 2001, and has won the John Hancock Award for excellence in business and financial journalism. Allan, a native of Brooklyn, received an M.S. from the Columbia Journalism School in 1967 and a B.A. from Brooklyn College in 1966. He attended the Seminary College of the Jewish Theological Seminary for two years while he was an undergraduate at Brooklyn College.
