Todd E. Macaluso is a nationally prominent lawyer, and was the lead attorney in the diet pill litigation against ephedrine manufacturers such as Metabolife, Twin Labs, Inc., Cytodyne Technologies, Inc. and Muscletech. He has settled over 100 injury and death cases and tried and settled 4 class actions. One trial against Cytodyne Technologies, Inc. resulted in a $28 million verdict. In this powerful interview, he discusses a recent jury verdict (http://www.lawyersusaonline.com/index.cfm/archive/view/id/432610) in the amount of $55.6 Million dollars against San Diego Gas & Electric Company for the utility company negligently failing to light a utility tower on Camp Pendleton. Because the tower was unlighted, four Marines died when their Huey helicopter collided with the tower during a nighttime training mission. He also represented Baltimore Oriole Pitcher Steve Bechler who died of heat stroke caused by Xenadrine RFA-1, a performance enhancing diet pill manufactured by Cytodyne Technologies, Inc. Todd has given sworn testimony before the United States Congress, House Government Affairs Committee regarding the dangers of ephedrine as used in diet pills. As a result of his efforts, ephedrine was banned in the United States by the Food and Drug Administration in 2003-following the verdicts, settlements and testimony given to Congress in connection with the national diet pill litigation he commenced 5 years earlier. Todd has given testimony before the United States Congress in the Internet pharmacy litigation in which he was integrally involved. He has been interviewed over 100 times by national and local television stations including NBC Today Show, ABC Good Morning America, Larry King Live, Sixty Minutes, The O’Reilly Factor and many other stations.
